Solar Discovery is proud to announce that it has partnered with World4Solar to complete the installation of the first ever solar carport with integrated EV charging in Southern California. The HelioWing 5 was installed this month at American Legion Post 46 in Culver City, providing our veterans with a modern, innovative microgrid system and power plant solution.
Nick Boateng, Director of Solution Management at World4Solar, stated: “From our first conversations, we envisioned creating an island solution that could one day seamlessly connect to the meter, delivering bill reduction, peak shaving, and resiliency EV charging services to the local community. It’s a project that doesn’t just serve today’s needs but builds a foundation for sustainable, reliable energy for tomorrow.”
In addition to what the HelioWing 5 represents as an innovative technology in the world of renewable energy solutions, this project was also about giving back to our veterans. Boateng stated that veterans “are the heartbeat of this initiative, and we’re grateful to work alongside such committed individuals. Your service to this country, and now your service to energy independence continues to inspire us all.”
The Lumaport 5, a larger, continuously connected model, was recently on display at the RE+ Expo in Anaheim, where people from around the world came to check out this beautiful, one-of-a-kind solar carport in person. The whole Solar Discovery team was there to learn more about it in preparation for the recently completed installation in Culver City.
